The premium properties were fully booked for the duration of this year's haj and next year's pilgrimage, but also for a dozen days before and after. Luxury accommodation has mushroomed in Mecca in recent years with a proliferation of high-end skyscraper hotels in the vicinity of the Grand Mosque - often with "panoramic" views. We did not use the mosque facility in the hotel as we preferred to go to haram directly or pray from our room facing the kaaba view.Read also: Indonesia very important market for luxury hotels in MeccaĪt another similarly prestigious hotel, guests are offered a "pilgrimage area" complete with a view "of Islam's holiest site. ![]() Best part was speakers of haram prayers in the room itself! you can control the volume to be higher, lower, turned on or off and we used it tow ake up for Fajr which was great. It is a huge property so you are literally there with hundreds of people. Breakfast was very good and served the purpose. Access to haram was very easy and the view of the room was the highlight. Nonetheless, both hotels are in the same complex along with the fairmont clock tower and the raffles. I ended up booking in Swissotel Al Maqam Makkah as it is a newer property (opened more recently) and the access to haram was closer (or so i was told as i did not experience the other property myself). When booking i was slightly confused about the difference between Swissotel Makkah and Swissotel Al Maqam Makkah. Suite was overlooking kaaba from both the bedroom and living room. ![]() ![]() We stayed in the Junior Suite with Kaaba View which consisted of bedroom (with separate door), living room with TV and dining table, small kitchenette and toilet.
